Google Research introduces a Gemini-powered system for minimally-lossy text simplification, aiming to make complex information more accessible without sacrificing accuracy or detail. The system uses an automated evaluation and prompt refinement loop to optimize Gemini models for high-fidelity simplification. A large-scale study showed that simplified text improved user comprehension, reduced cognitive load, and increased confidence. This technology is now available as a “Simplify” feature in the Google app for iOS.
